Welcome to my new endeavor

As a Navy brat growing up my dad was gone a lot and my mom who made dinner for the family went back to work when I was 8. The mom of homemade food became the mom of convenience food. Unfortunately the microwave became our best friend and real cooking skills were never developed. The only thing I learned to do with the stove was to boil water and cook pasta and to brown ground beef for canned spaghetti sauce.

Now I have a family of my own and I want to create delicious and healthy meals without using a ton of prepackaged food.

I am all about experimentation, taking recipes and making them my own, and learning from any source I can. If you have a recipe or a cooking tip that you want to share with me I would love to hear from you.

Thanks for coming along on my journey and hopefully we can learn along together.

  1. I guess I'm somewhere in between. I'd love to cook completely from scratch, and I've tried a number of times too. But working two jobs (even if I don't have any kids yet) and a teensy galley kitchen means Sandra Lee is my new best friend... So spaghetti sauce in a jar is still around, but Chef Boyardee is a thing of the past, and frozen vegetables are the main thing in the freezer.
